b) Add a pinch of dish soap into the water and stir. Be sure not to use any abrasive cleaners
c) Place your Moissanite jewellery into the bowl and let it soak for about 10-20 minutes
d) Brush the stone gently with the soft toothbrush and be sure to get into the hard to reach areas
e) Rinse it thoroughly in warm running water to get rid of any soapy residue. Remember to clog drain!
f) Leave it to air dry or use a lint-free cloth to dry the Moissanite well. Avoid using tissue or paper towels as it might leave fibres and dust on your ring
2) The Ammonia Method
Ammonia might sound like a strong and harsh chemical, but it is actually a very safe and natural product that is widely used for effectively cleaning moissanite jewellery. This method is very effective if your Moissanite Rings is noticeably dirty.
a) Prepare a bowl of one-part ammonia to 2 parts warm water. If you think you are sensitive to ammonia, do use gloves before stirring the solution
b) Soak your Moissanite in the bowl for approximately 10-15 minutes.
c) Brush the stone gently with the soft toothbrush and be sure to get into the hard to reach areas
d) Remember to clog the drain! You can either rinse the Moissanite under warm running water or use a mild soap with water to wash off any residue
e) Leave it to air dry or use a lint-free cloth to dry the Moissanite well. Again, avoid using any tissue or paper towels as it might leave fibres and dust on your ring
3) A Shot of Vodka
If you are sensitive to ammonia, vodka is a good alternative. Simply follow the same steps as above but replace the ammonia with vodka!
4) Commercial Cleaners
If you have decided that you need something more professional than the above 3 methods, you could always opt for a commercial home jewellery cleaner. Be sure to choose a non-toxic liquid cleaner for your Moissanite and read through the instructions and follow the directions thoroughly.
5) Ultrasonic Cleaners
Moissanite is a tough gem that is strong and hard enough to be used in ultrasonic cleaners. This is an effective way to restore its shine and sparkle. You can purchase a machine from your local handy fix store or any online store that distributes one that is CE compliant.
